Rejuvenate, Re-energize and Revive your Productivity
Autumn is here, which means falling burgundy red, amber orange, and bronze leaves, spiced pumpkin lattes and apple pie. This season makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside and serves as a reminder that the end of the year is quickly approaching.
By now most of us have already settled into a normal routine. It’s no wonder that rather than using these last few months to kick things into high gear, we begin to feel unmotivated and start to struggle with maintaining productivity. However, this is the the perfect time to take the necessary steps to meet year end goals and start investing in the upcoming year.
Here are a few tips that hopefully will help keep you positive and invigorate your performance during the Fall season :
Autumn marks the transition from carefree summer to winter blues, as the days get shorter and cooler. Because night time comes sooner try starting your day off an hour earlier than usual and give yourself a head start.
Fresh ideas usually manifest earlier during the day before the hustle and bustle of life and daily activities take over.
Although you will want to try to accomplish as much as possible, don’t feel rushed by the shorter days. If you rush task you will start to feel overwhelmed with trying to begin and finish everything all at once. Manage your time and create schedules and checklist to avoid early burnout.
What do you want to accomplish personally or professionally in the upcoming week, month, or by the end of the year?Establish your goals and go over them as often as possible. Make yourself accountable and make sure you’re on track. In order to stay productive you should know what you’re trying to accomplish. Strategically plan your activities so they can align with your goals.
Sometimes we need that extra push to stay motivated.Set rewards for yourself for accomplishing a goal or completing a project. You can reward yourself with a guilty pleasure like indulging in a snack or with a cup of coffee. Whatever your personal preference is, enjoy!
All work and no play makes for a dull day. Give yourself permission to take a break and refresh. If you are constantly going it’s easy to lose your focus and knock yourself off balance. Give yourself permission to take a walk or switch task. More importantly give yourself a cutoff time and stick to it.
You may not finish all you intended, but it’s fine!
Are there any other tips that work well for you? Leave them as a comment and we may include them in one of our future blog postings.
Most File Sync and Share Platforms are not #ThinkingofYou
We came across an April announcement in Forbes, that a file sharing service known for giving only businesses a platform to share files, was recently acquired by Blackberry. Blackberry was once known as the go to mobile device for business executives. This merger is clearly a strategy to satisfy and win back those lost enterprise customers.
This news highlights just one of the many initiatives taken to use file sharing platforms as a way to protect sensitive internal business information. However, it seems that many of these platforms are forgetting about you, the everyday individual. When you’re home or out and about, instances may occur when you would need to send a document with personal information, or share a music/art file that you’ve created. Any of these files you decide to share has value. If someone obtained these files without your permission it could result in identify theft or a loss of income. If file sharing platforms don’t make file protection a priority for everyday Internet users they will definitely be missing the mark.
The SeKur XFR file sharing platform has been designed to give the everyday Internet user enterprise level security. The privacy of all your files will protected, including (but not limited to) MS Office, PDF, audio, video and more.
So don’t feel dismayed; be optimistic. Because now you know who is #thinkingofyou!
No Regrets File Sharing: SeKur XFR Lets You “Unsend”
We have all had that Homer Simpson “d’oh” moment, when we have accidentally shared a file with personal information to the wrong person, or shared a photo that we’ve later regretted. Fortunately, you’ll now have an opportunity to nolonger kick yourself for your mistakes or regret poor judgements.
The SeKur XFR file sharing platform will allow you to essentially “unsend” those “d’oh” moments. You can temporarily or permanently terminate access to text documents, photo, audio or video files even if it was already downloaded by the recipient. This option is available regardless of the email provider or portable device you use to transfer files.
Now you may have heard that Gmail is offering a similar “unsend” feature for email, but don’t get too excited. They are basically just providing gmail users with a delay mechanism. Users have a 30 sec time frame to think about the content in the email their sending and make quick adjustments before the email actually gets delivered. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so we applaud gmail’s efforts in attempting to incorporate a recall feature for their email.
However, when it comes to sharing files, we want to give SeKur XFR users a little more peace of mind than 30 seconds. Whether it takes 30 seconds or 30 days to decide if you want to limit a recipient’s accessibility or permanently terminate the file, you have that option. No longer regret clicking the send button. At home or on the go, you’ll have total control over anything sent electronically.
Watch this video to learn how SeKur XFR let’s you “unsend”.
What does SeKur Xfr do?
We call it TARGET: Track / Approve / Revoke / Grant / Enable / Terminate
Track – who your file has been sent to…
… when it was sent and if they opened the file. With real-time access, SeKur Xfr provides a timestamp so you can know when your file was received and opened. SeKur Xfr will also alert you if your file is sent to someone else and they try to access it.
Approve – each file loaned and duration of loan.
When you share a file, you can set a duration for access to the file. You can set the duration by time (weeks, days, hours, etc.) or limit the number of times a file can be opened. When the duration expires, SeKur Xfr disables the file and it can no longer be accessed.
Revoke – access to file that’s been loaned at any time, in real time.
Someone shares your file and you receive the SeKur Xfr alert. You can revoke the original recipient’s access, the access of those they sent your file to, or revoke everyone’s access to your file.
Grant – others limited rights to share your file.
You control who and how your files get shared. With SeKur Xfr, you can grant sharing rights with varying expirations so you have complete control of who can access to your files and for how long.
Enable – limited or unlimited file access to a batch or group of users.
Using SeKur Xfr, you can enable and disable individual and/or group access to your file. If someone makes an unauthorized copy or download, SeKur Xfr will immediately disable the file, making it useless and inaccessible and notify you of the attempt.
Terminate – the file access at a date/time of your choosing.
SeKur Xfr programs the termination of access right into the file, so your files are protected online and off.

Bethlehem’s TechVentures invests $60,000 in two startup companies
By Jennifer Glose
Two early stage companies in the Lehigh Valley were approved for a total of $60,000 in funding from
Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Colymer Industries, a developer of a patented roofing asphalt, and SeKur Technology Inc., which is developing a high-level encryption technology, have been granted loans from Ben Franklin Technology Partners to help in the launch of their products.
Ben Franklin Technology Partners, funded by the state’s Department of Community and Economic Development, has a goal to help generate and retain jobs in 21 counties of northeastern Pennsylvania. BFTP writes a grant each year for funding that can be used for investing in developing and growing early stage, technology oriented companies.
Colymer, which is in Ben Franklin TechVentures, a startup incubator hub on Lehigh University’s Mountaintop campus, has been granted $50,000, and SeKur Technology of East Allentown has been awarded $10,000.
Colymer Industries will use the loan to implement a marketing and sales strategy to commercialize Tarzanite, the company’s nonasphalt roofing and waterproofing material. An improved coal tar formulation, Tarzanite is not water-soluble and is environmentally beneficial, and is expected to outlast traditional asphalt-based materials.
“We are ecstatic,” Paul Boddy, Colymer’s co-founder and senior vice president of sales and marketing, said this morning. “It’s [the funding] giving us a launch pad to execute our plans.”
William Brown, who has a background as an administrative networking engineer, started developing the concept for SeKurXfr about five years ago, an encryption technology that derived from his many years as a music producer, seeing how downloaded music was easily and frequently being stolen.
“The product [SekurXfr] allows you to encrypt a file and encode it so it can be tracked,” SeKur’s founder and CEO, Brown said this morning. “Even if someone pulls it offline or downloads it.”
With three employees at SeKur Technology in East Allentown, Brown said his company will use the funds to help build its marketing plan and to help in finding more revenue to launch the product by early 2015.
“It’s very exciting,” Brown said. “The process of building something, funding it, then having people see it and believe it.”

“Now, if we could do something about that – we’d be doing something.” My reply to this comment changed the course of our conversation that night. It was the providence of God that I was even at this meeting to discuss a future music project. Music lover I was, but I had no experience in the music business. As we talked about the project, our conversation switched to the devastating effects of piracy on the recorded music industry – so why should we bother if it was just going to be ‘bootlegged’ all over the world.
Early the next morning, Mr. Brown called and shared a vision he had and he was very excited about it. SeKur Technology was born that morning and it has been a labor of love and dedication to see it mature to this point. Little did any of us know then of the journey of professional and personal growth and commitment we were embarking upon. Yet we, under the unwavering leadership of our CEO William Brown, took hold of the plow and moved onward. For all who have supported this ‘dream turned into reality’ in any way, we are very grateful for you!
So on our 5th anniversary, we celebrate the achievements of the past and embrace the great future of this company! The best is yet to come! Happy Anniversary to Team SeKur!!!
Rhonda James, Administration
SeKur Technology, Inc., like other great companies, was birthed out of the desire to make something better. In our case we aimed (and still aim) to return control and security back to the everyday internet user.
Having been a professional artist for several years, I’ve had the privilege to have two albums recorded and released. The fun and exciting part of that was seeing the music online, where people could play and purchase it. The hardest part was seeing so many sites offering not only our music for free, but also the artwork! We quickly learned that our music was available for free in countries throughout the world. While that may seem flattering to some, it hurts the bottom line for anyone who wants to make a living off of music, production, and more.We came to learn that the everyday user didn’t know or understand the impact of digital piracy (or what we now call digital violation) – a more than $1 trillion loss worldwide.
We have the privilege to be a part of history. It’s been an honor to see SeKur from its birth to now 5 years strong. We’ve accomplished so much, and every step of the way have proved that the “impossible” is most certainly possible. With our faith, great leadership in our Founder William D. Brown, and perseverance – SeKur Technology has become a growing force.
Happy Anniversary to all!!
Lindsay Watson, Business Development
Being a veteran music producer, my foremost outlook of this problem was always from a music industry perspective. Many knew first hand that the problem of piracy existed, but there was an overall sentiment that there wasn’t anything that could be done about it. I never imagined the implications outside of the music world.
After getting the idea, it was almost impossible to get anyone to actually believe that this could be done. Everyone kept telling me that something like this wouldn’t work, or if it could, why hadn’t someone else thought of it first. It seemed to me that they were really saying there is no way I was smart enough come up with this solution.
So we persevered, overcoming what seemed like insurmountable obstacles. Then finally, after we proved that our technology worked, the validation came. Of course then, everyone wanted to get involved, be a part and invest. What satisfaction! It’s has been a great journey but at the same time, it seems like it is just the beginning.
Happy anniversary to SeKur Technology! (with bells and whistles)
William D. Brown, Founder & CEO
